From the artist: This painting of my dad, older sister, and me was part of a series of re-workings of old family photos. It has become more meaningful to me in the past two years, both because gathering with family has been so complicated and because I had a daughter of my own in 2020 and am expecting her sister soon.

Zahava Presser Michaelson is a second-year medical student and mom who sometimes wishes she had more time to paint. Previously, she studied Literature and Visual Arts. Zahava was born and raised in NYC, where she still lives with her family.
