You sailed on ocean graves,
swallowed sands,
shed skin and bone.
Disowned by one land;
refused by another.
Voice drowned out in a thunder.
You cried, Aren’t we all immigrants?
Swimming in amniotic sac,
splitting red sea for air,
selling fresh air for coal,
praying for a place to call home.
