Dear Reader,
As seasons shift and another year unfolds, we can find ourselves in moments that resist easy definitions.
We often rush through them, eager for clarity and resolution. Just as we rush through the physical in-between, like counting down the minutes on a train ride to our destination. But what if these “in-between” moments are not merely transitions leading us to what comes next, but places worth inhabiting?
For our seventh issue of The Apothecary, we explore what it means to sit within liminal spaces. To savor (no matter how it tastes), the uncertainties and transience of this in-between. Some pieces in this issue embrace the in-between as a place of comfort or possibility, while others dwell in its contradictions, its unease. In between jobs, or transitions to new paths in life. Stuck in an uncertain, difficult place when confronted with loss. Art and music ruminating on the in betweens of life and making peace with it. Let yourself wonder. How do you move through these spaces? How do you sit in ambiguity without resolving it? Do you want to resolve it?
Across poetry, prose, and visual art, our contributors offer glimpses into these spaces: moments of waiting, of becoming, of holding multiple truths at once.
Together, they remind us that the in-between is not empty, but alive with meaning.
With care,
The Editors
