Editors’ Note

March 30, 2020

Dear Reader,

Welcome to our second issue of the Apothecary. We think you’ll find as much joy as we did in our contributors’ broad and imaginative interpretation of “Colors.”

We did not anticipate publishing under these unprecedented circumstances. Each piece enclosed here was created and submitted long before we saw a pandemic looming on the horizon. With this in mind, we deliver our Spring issue to you as something of a time capsule: an image of our community beyond the reach of the present crisis.

Today, some in our community are exhausted and overworked. Some are quarantined at home. Some are sick. Some are grieving. And with the loss of our most precious tool in expressing our concern and our love—our presence—we have needed to be creative in the ways we maintain our connections with one another. We hope the Apothecary is one way to help.

Wishing you and your loved ones safety and peace in the days to come.

In warmth and solidarity,

The Editors
