The Lonely City 2022

From the artist: "The Lonely City" measures 5 x 5 feet and features a detailed line drawing of the New York City skyline with roots deeply planted in the ground of trees, linking the city to a faceless individual. This artwork was created during a time of struggle for the artist. The roots symbolize the artist's connection to the city and their attempt to maintain a sense of belonging in the face of adversity to pay tribute to how humans grow, morph, and blossom. The detailed roots connecting the faceless individual wandering in the city serve as a stabilizing force that connect many of us to our past, our culture, and a vast network of intertwined subterranean life forces.
