EchoChambers: A Common Gathering Ground

Do I dare say, only profess the majority’s
opinion in a region entrapped in replay?
For we gather here today, masks worn down,
stitched back together, while dried tears kept their rebuttal.
We quarantine less days, now embracing the wild
gusts of blizzards’ touch, socially distant til pubs foil
the grandiose plan, the modern contraption of empty streets.
We claim to embrace equity and diversity of thought,
while we deep dive into the polarized, irate critique
of all things unique, burning originality’s ark
for the sake of echoing popular opinion.
We once guided society, now we swan hollow echos
in tune to society’s harp, dismantling the defense
of philosophy and history for degraded sinews.

From the artist: The poem serves as a reminder of why we need to ensure we practice critical thinking instead of groupthink when we gather. The poem also provides some examples of areas we need to grow in, so when we gather we are growing instead of being stagnant.
