Black Women are Soft, Too.

Black Women are Soft, Too.

From the artist: This series was created as a reaction to the spotlighting of Black trauma in news and social media over the past year. The tragedy of Breonna Taylor's death in particular has sparked conversation about the notion of the "Objectification" and "Adultification" of the Black woman. In short, American culture often portrays the Black woman as strong, fearless, and indestructible despite constant adversity. Never fragile. Never struggling. The soft focus of these photos is meant to counter this viewpoint, in hopes of evoking the inherent beauty, vulnerability, and humanity that exists as well in the Black woman.
